Kidney transplant

A kidney transplant (renal transplant) is a surgical procedure in which a healthy kidney is implanted from a donor (living or deceased) into the body of a person suffering from end-stage kidney failure. The transplant is performed to restore the filtering and metabolic functions of the kidneys, which are unable to function properly due to disease.
